Todays feast for the audiable senses, of course my muse, John Mayer from Where the Light is..Live in Los Angeles. If you haven't bought this DvD or CD..get it. Sheer Genius. It is on constant in my life. I must get in touch with him. He has inspired my writing and my creativity for Sugar Sugar Coconut. There are people that have a great gift and talent to inspire people. John Mayer is ahead of the curve and in the present dead on accurate yet forward for his time. Rich with meaning and saturated with love and inspiration, his music is good for the soul. Enjoy the few songs that really have moved me these last few days. Thank you for having the courage to put yourself out there and share part of yourself with the rest of us.I am forever grateful you have. So to my readers, here is the music that is directley if not entirely in part responsible for Sugar Sugar Coconut.
Have car will travel. I feel these days if my car had a kitchen, bed and a shower I would live in it. I am in LA more and more these days. Some technological genius needs to invent a hands free computer for cars. So I could multitask even more. I am all about multitasking if you have yet to pick that up. So we are in need of an audiable device giving the capabilty of letting us blog, facebook, email, invoice, or whatever it takes to run a business, meanwhile be hands free while driving. So there's the plan, now where's a good techi when you need one?
It was another marathon night followed by a marathon day. To bed a 3, begats!, and up at 4:45, on the road at 6 am. Off to the Ivy in Beverly Hills with my new great and awe inspiring Director/Visionary Producer/Writer Anna. She is re-releasing an amazing poem of a film on Buddhism. It's the history/philosiphy and roots of Buddism in the purest sense. It is magic and inspiring and I am so excited for it to be mainstraim and shared with the world!!Check her out at www.buddhawild.com Both of our visions have big love going in and big love and amzing response coming back! The Ivy was amazing I had Pasta and Anna the Seafood Rissotto, both of which were amazing. She took some cute pics and we swapped some delicious low cal girl talk, and of course some of my treats were shared and photographed. She offered some much appreciated and overly generous advice on proceeding in a smart and well planned business direcrtion and she was off to work work work. That's LA a short break followed by work!
That's Anna!! She is the whole package. Wit, beauty and intelligence. She is a force of nature and I am so glad that our paths have crossed. I see her in my life for a long time.
Girl talk and Robertson Boulevard eye candy from a patio view at the Ivy. Life is good.
My colorful summer pallette, accompanied by my colorful explanation. Which one was flavored. This plate had Vanilla, Coconut, and Orange. The core 3 flavors. With my Vanilla Base cupcakes. Coffee and Cupcakes at the Ivy...perfection.
So after we had our fill at the Ivy, we cruised down Robertson to a great little spot outside the The Daily News Cafe. Good response from the crowds. Lots of cute kids of all ages in need of an afternoon pick-me-up. Who am I to turn down someone in need of a marshmallow?
Here are some walking shots and some sitting shots I will let the pictures speak for themselves.....ok..maybe a few comments here and there....................................
Marshmallows? Cupcakes anyone?
I have learned to always..always...always were jean shorts under my floaty dresses, you vever know when it will get windy in LA, especially by the ocean.
So after some more tasting, talking, and sage wisdom, Anna and I said our goodbyes and I enjoyed the beautiful people of Robertson and the hustle and bustle that is mid afternoon Wednsday on Robertson Boulevard. As I sat in the courtyard outside the Daily News Cafe, I had to pinch myself. I am on my way to exactly where I wanted to go. I set out on this journey with a vision, it was a dream. A crazy, silly, wonderful dream to get my treats out to the world of LA and eventually the rest of the country, and who knows someday the world. Dream big....I feel like I am dreaming and I have to remind myself to ccenter and stay grounded. I am so small and insignificant, really. However, somewhere out there in the universe, I cried out to be shown my purpose, as I felt I was floating around directionless, with something I knew was deep inside waiting to be unleased. I had know idea that marshmallows were the outlet to making all my dreams come true. What a way to make my dreams come true!
So another not so coincidental coincidence. These occurances that seem to keep happening quite frequently to me, are gifts. I cherish every instance and I absorb them like the dry ground after the first rain of the spring. The cutest puppy you have ever seen was on the prowl. Bright eyed, young, and adventuring the mystery of this wonderfully colorful place we live, had gotten loose from his mommy. "Hey puppy..." I love all of the creatures we get to share time here on this earth with, but I am definitely a sucker for two things, puppies and babies. They are innocent pure and loyal. They love fiercely and without reservations and they are the closest thing to perfect we will ever know here on earth. I wish we could take lessons from them. Perhaps a self help book entitled "Everything I ever needed to know I learned from my dog." So, this cute little prowler jumped up onto the bench and into my purse. I had involuntarily adopted the cutest little nugget I had ever seen!! "THERE YOU ARE!" Did he just come over to you? I was trying to put him in my bag he wouldn't get in. Sorry, he's not for adoption." So looked puzzled, but comfortable as I am a pretty mellow spirit. "Yes, he's a cutie. He is so mellow. No worries." We started talking and as fate would have it, this cute dog and even more darling owner was a marketing executive. My cry for direction on how to get my product and name out there even more was in my grasp. She proceeded to ask me about Sugar Sugar Coconut and was intriegued with the marshmallow idea. She gave me the who's who list of people to contact in LA and her contact information. She also directed me to yet another movie shoot, and I was able to take my products to another production company and watch more people gaggle and giggle over my yummy treats. So Shayna, thank you. I look forward to working with you, I know with your help and knowledge of the scene in LA, you will make me bigger than I ever dreamed! I am working on my goodie baskets to all the contacts you suggested. If you are in LA and seeking the cutest and most knowlegeable marketing company I've yet to come across check her out. So after a condensed and productive morning and afternoon, I decided to head of to Fairfax. My favorite part of downtown. It is always busy and beautifully rich with people coming and going, seeing and trying to be seen. Wonderfully chaotic and charismatic. I parked by the The Beverly condo's and decided I was going to get some good old pavement in. I love to walk and watch. It is much safer to walk than to drive if you are into that sort of thing. With my camera in hand, I set of to 3rd and Fairfax and my favorite place The Grove. Ahhh my first love of shopping began here, followed in a close second by Robertson Blvd. It was busy and bustling and I was in heaven. Everyone was deep in convesation, or on there cells texting and plotting out the plans for the evening. I headed straight to the cute little shop in the Farmers Market and watched all the families and couples enjoying a beautiful day in Southern California. I took some pictures, and I got some more inspiration. I seem to be scooping up inspiration from everywhere I go these days, I need to seriously get a thick note pad. Note to self, errand to be ran later today. So here are some happy pics of my perfectly unscheudled wanderings of the grove and farmers market.
Lights a flurry
Setting up camp. Totally digging the hip colors. My pallette for my flagship store in Santa Monica. Gave the colors to my designer last week, thought it funny that they were exactly the same here in my fav spot!! The only thing missing, my hints of shotty pink and bright tangerine orange accents. Yummy.
Yes I envision people eating my yummy treats in benches such as these.....
Soon a table similar to this will be surrounded with people in Santa Monica filled with marshmallows, cupcakes, coffee and or tea. Can't you see my coconut on the table spilling off the plate? I can.
What is better in late spring than some yummy lemonade or italian soda?
Food obssessed!! In heaven.
So after I had fun with my camera, I hit a few shops. My favs Anthropologie, Borders, L'Occitane, and Bath and Body Works. Walked back down Fairfax and decided it wouldn't be a complete night in LA without hitting Sunset. So I grabbed some yummy Thai Food and a caffine fix and headed to the Roxy. After that, one more stop for my caffine send of at Mel's Diner and I was headed back to the desert. Fabulous and productive day, just the way I like it.
So this weekend, not a relaxing one. Lot's of work to be done. That's quite alright with me. I feel guilty, as when I am working, really I feel I am playing. Getting messy with batter and frosting, creating singing dancing and playing. Watching my daughter oogle over the cupcakes and lick frosting of the spatulas, I am in heaven on earth. I will take this and hold on to it as tight as I can. This is my baby, and I am watching it grow right before my eyes. It is my absolute pleasure to love, nuture and feed it so that it will grow strong and thrive. Have a yummy weekend ya'll. As for myself, I'm off to Candyland.
